Smart Bin Management Platform
A software system/platform which, through scanners and telemetry, identifies the category of waste deposited in the bin’s intake slot and automatically sorts it either into the correct recycling category or into general waste.
On the central platform of the managing authority, critical data is collected from detection systems and sensors installed in the bins. These include:
Fill-level monitoring, so the platform can design optimized waste collection routes.
Tilt detection, to confirm whether the bin has been emptied or has fallen.
Temperature sensors, which send alerts to the central platform in case of fire, ensuring immediate notification of the Municipality or Fire Department.
The Smart Bins are intended for use by both public services and private households or businesses that wish to effectively reduce their environmental footprint.
For public/shared Smart Bins: The waste collection devices are equipped with additional fill-level detection systems, connected online to municipal waste collection services. This allows automatic updates and the creation of more targeted collection schedules based on the actual accumulated volume. Notifications and alerts are also sent to smart devices — such as smartphones and tablets — for platform users, waste collection service drivers, and other stakeholders.
For household Smart Bins: The device is connected to a monitoring app installed on the user’s mobile device. It provides real-time updates on bin fill levels and notifies the user when each section of the bin needs to be emptied.
